About the Author

Chris Ferrero is the sole founder and manager of US-Iran-Relations.com. He is a PhD candidate and adjunct instructor in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mr. Ferrero earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Villanova University in 2001. He received Villanova’s 2001 Political Science Medallion as the top-ranked graduate in political science, as well as the St. Augustine Award for Academic Excellence in the Liberal Arts. While at Villanova, Mr. Ferrero was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa (Liberal Arts and Sciences) and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science) national honor societies. He was a Fulbright Finalist in 2001.

Mr. Ferrero proceeded directly to the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in autumn 2001. He earned a Master of Arts degree with Honors in National Security Studies in May 2003. He worked for the United States Department of State for sixteen months while studying at Georgetown. Upon completion of his Master of Arts, Mr. Ferrero worked for three years as a consultant to the United States Department of Defense with the firm Booz Allen Hamilton.

Mr. Ferrero matriculated to the University of Virginia in autumn 2006 to pursue his PhD in Foreign Affairs. He has completed all course and exam requirements and is writing a dissertation addressing US-Iran relations. His dissertation will examine the role of domestic politics and discourse in the formulation of US policy toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. He plans to examine a breadth of influences on policy, including: collective memory, societal group-think, the media, interest groups, and the decision-making structures in which US policy is developed.

Mr. Ferrero has been promoted from teaching assistant to adjunct instructor in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia; he is currently teaching an advanced undergraduate seminar on US-Iran relations. From 2006 to early 2010, Mr. Ferrero assistant-taught courses in Comparative Politics of the Middle East, United States Foreign Policy, Military Force in International Relations, and American Politics. He served two years as head teaching assistant to renowned American Politics professor Dr. Larry Sabato. Mr. Ferrero has also served as a guest lecturer on Iran and US-Iran relations to both student groups and Middle East politics classes at UVA.

Mr. Ferrero earned intermediate-level language certification in Persian/Farsi at the University of California-Berkeley in the summer of 2007.
